Corby Air Cadets Strike Gold

Last night, Thursday 8^th October, was all about Health and Safety for 422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets as they were visited by Central and East Region’s Health, Safety and Environment Adviser Mr John Mauger for their Health, Safety and Environment inspection.

Hosted by the Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Kev Ritchie RAFVR(T) and Squadron Health and Safety Officer, Civilian Instructor Charlie Little, Mr Mauger spent the evening going through the Squadron’s Health and Safety documentation and processes.

The inspection delved into items such as the arrival brief on the Squadron, risk assessments, First Aid and Fire Appliances, Fire Safety Management Plans, Health and Safety refresher training and documentation that must be on display for anyone in the building to view.

The final part of the inspection was a fire drill and for the latest intake this was their first ever fire drill on the Squadron.

Following a successful fire drill, Mr Mauger was pleased to award 422 (Corby) Squadron the Gold Star award.

Flight Lieutenant Kev Ritchie RAFVR(T) said, “Health and Safety is a very important part of what we do as an organisation and is at the forefront of every activity we do and decision we make.  I would like to thank CI Charlie Little for her outstanding work and with only recently taking on the role has produced an amazing result.  I would also like to thank the staff and cadets for continuing to operate in a safe and professional manner without that, this award would not have been achievable”.
