Yesterday eighteen cadets from 422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets travelled to RAF Wittering to compete against 28 other Squadrons in the South and East Midlands Wing Annual Cross Country Competition.
For some, this was their very first competition with the Squadron at a Wing level and also their first cross country. However, the cadets met the course; set out over 3.5Km and 5Km for their respective age groups, with great enthusiasm and gave their all.
Following the competition it was announced that 422 (Corby) Squadron had placed 7th overall in the Wing.
Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Kev Ritchie RAFVR(T) said, “This is an absolutely fantastic result for the cadets. The enthusiasm and teamwork they displayed on the day has really paid off. They should be really proud of their achievement. I know for some this has really sparked an interest in running as they continue to take part in the local Corby Park Run, so let’s see what next year will bring”.
