422 (Corby) Squadron celebrates ATC Sunday

On Sunday 3rd February the cadets of 422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets paraded from Rockingham Road to St. Andrew’s Church in Occupation Road for a Church service led by the Squadron Padre, the Reverend Doctor (Air-Vice Marshal) Peter Mills CB BD DD CPS RAF Ret’d, to celebrate the formation of the Air Training Corps on the 5th February 1941.

The parade was led by the Squadron’s newest uniformed member of staff, Pilot Officer Kevin Ritchie RAFVR(T). Despite the strong winds and cold temperature many cadets, Squadron adult staff members and representatives from the local Royal Air Forces Association turned up for the occasion.

Pilot Officer Ritchie RAFVR(T) said “It was a privilege to lead the Squadron on my first parade and on such an important date in the ATC calendar. It was great to see so many turn up and celebrate along side us”.

422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets meet on Mondays and Thursdays at the T.A. Centre on St. Marks Road from 7pm to 9:30pm. If you are between 13 and 17 years old and are interested in joining, you can email us on 422@aircadets.org or call us on 01536 601615 to find out more.
